Course aim
To understand how to support all children to become enthusiastic and capable writers.

Teachers will learn to recognise the range of skills and experiences that children need to become confident writers, and will be offered a bank of practical ideas to develop practice and provision.

Pre-course Information
Target group – Reception teachers and school Literacy leads

All attendees please bring at least 3 examples of recent writing from one child in your class. We will use this during the training.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day but please bring your own lunch.

By the end of the training participants will:

  • Have explored the range of skills and experiences needed for children to become competent writers

  • Have explored the developmental stages of writing in the early years, and feel more confident in making assessments

  • Understand how EYFS practitioners can support writing development
