Course aim
To support Reception teachers to teach writing and make accurate and consistent assessments of children's writing

Target group: all Early Years teachers and Literacy leads in schools.

Pre-course Information
Please bring with you 3 samples of your children’s current writing, 1 each from 3 different children to cover the range of abilities you have in your class, that is, 1 from a child who is working at the higher end of your group, 1 in the middle and 1 working at a lower level. This will form a key part of the session. Thank you.

By the end of of the training participants will:

  • Have acquired a range of practical strategies to support children learning to write.

  • Have developed a greater understanding of the writing descriptors for the ELG and Exceeding judgements.
