Course aim
To develop the leadership anad management of the teaching and learning of Phonics in order to raise standards in phonics at the end of Year One

Target group - Leaders and managers of phonics, this may be Literacy Co-ordinators, EYFS Co-ordinators or KS1 Co-ordinators

Pre-course Information
This course is fully funded by Oxfordshire Early Years, however, if you book a place and do not attend your school will be charged a £75 non-attendance fee

By the end of training participants will know how to:

  • Audit and reflect on current provision for phonics throughout the school

  • Identify guiding principles for strong leadership of phonics teaching and learning

  • Analyse what good phonics teaching looks like

  • Consider how to support teachers to improve teaching and learning

  • Review how formative and summative assessment is used effectively to analyse barriers to learning

  • Support teachers to address the challenges of narrowing the gap and removing barriers to learning for vunerable learners.

  • Consider how to better engage parents in early reading
